Fuerte Cases Sponsors San Diego City Robotics Team

Fuerte Cases is proud to be a San Diego City Robotics Team sponsor. The team's underwater robot uses our SE-300 as the primary enclosure to house the electronic components and our OB-3250 case as a ballast control enclosure. Fuerte Cases is also providing the necessary Watertight Wire Seals and Watertight CAT5 connectors for the project as well as underwater housings for photo and video equipment. As may be needed, Fuerte Cases is available to provide the team with engineering resources and plastics consulting services through our sister company Bircumshaw & Associates, a San Diego area plastics and tooling consulting firm.

San Diego City Robotics is a group of students, professors and industry advisers with the shared goal of designing and building competitive entries for student robotics competitions. San Diego City Robotics’ first year participating in the AUVSI Autonomous Underwater Vehicle competition was a resounding success! Placed 9th out of 27 teams and won the award for Most Improved entry. The 2007 team was a new formation of talent and built a completely different vehicle from the ground up.

The project offers transfer students attending 2-year schools the opportunity to work on a major engineering project with the same continuity as students who go directly to a 4-year school.

The project is only possible through the generosity of sponsors. San Diego City Robotics placed better than MIT, Duke, U of Maryland, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State Univ., U of Colorado at Denver and other top engineering universities during last year's competition. In order to remain competitive with teams that have budgets as high as $70,000, the team always welcomes additional sponsors. San Diego City Robotics Vehicle is "The Seahorse"

Below are a few pictures of SDCR's vehicle used during las year's competition. Same overall structural design will be used for this year's competition. The vehicle's name is apropriately named "The Seahorse". The annual competition is held every summer at the TRANSDEC US Naval facility at Point Loma in San Diego, California.
